  • Appropriate for most tool steels.
  • Evaporating-proof and thermo-chemically stable: in normal use it has an unlimited lifetime, fire point 228 °C - bath temperatures from 50 - 150 °C. This way a mild cooling effect in the critical martensite range.

Quenching water addition
Provides for rapid and uniform hardening. Water temperature up to 70 °C, by which the risk of fractures and deformation are largely prevented.

Cleaning agent
Allot about 4 kg to 100 liters of water. At about 70 °C this solution leads to good result when cleaning and degreasing the workpieces. At the same time a thin rust-protective film is forming on the workpiece.

Tongs which can safely be grabbed in different shapes and sizes: handles with 600 mm length each allow for a good distance to the furnace room and finally for a very good immersion depth in the quenching bath.

Accessories for bright hardening

Härterfolie 

HARDENING FILM UP TO ABOUT 1200 °C

1. A film with a thickness of only 0.05 mm, but extremely stable
2. The film can easily be cut to the correct size with scissors
3. The wrapped workpiece is laid in the furnace and heated-up
4. After the heating-up the workpiece will be quenched together with the film in the air, water or oil

The hardening film is appropriate for all types and sizes of workpieces.
After the hardening there can be slight discolourations on the workpiece, which are however insignificant.
The workpiece can also remain in the film for tempering.
The workpiece is also protected on its way from the oven to the quenching bath.
Due to the quality of the material of the film, overheating and too rapid cooling-down is being avoided.
The film stores up the remaining oxygen in the packing since it heats-up much quicker than the workpiece. The film is also available in other forms (wrapping covers, containers).

Accessories for semi vacuum hardening

Härtefolie SNIJSTAAL WRAPPING COVERS UP TO 1200 °C

The explanation of the advantages properties of the wrapping covers:
The ultra-thin wrapping cover is becoming red-hot already after a few minutes, whereas the wrapped workpiece still remains cold. In the meantime the oxygen which still existing in the wrapping cover has mostly connected to the red-hot wrapping cover and this way the oxygen will not harm the workpiece. Also when the workpiece is in the furnace for long time neither partial decarbonisation nor any other forms of surface attack will occur.

  • Film with a thickness of only 0.05 mm but extremely stable
  • Very easy-to-pack
  • Closed on 3 sides with firm weldings
  • Easy-to-close
  • After the heating period a vacuum atmosphere is forming in the container which results in a bright, and super-hard workpiece which is free from decarbonisation

  • Appropriate for blocks, dies, blanking dies, etc.
  • The workpiece will be inserted into the container with less possible clearance.
  • The front side of the container will be screwed in manually or with the below key for seemed lid can.
  • This way the can is becoming a small vacuum muffle where you can harden high and average alloyed types of steel.

The can is also appropriate for:
  • Hardening high-speed steel at about 1050° - 1150°C (for cold work purposes)
  • Powder nitration hardening
  • Boronising

The Snijstaal mandrel system

 GasdornsystemTHE COMPLETELY NEW HARDENING TECHNOLOGY

By using the very thin SNIJSTAAL cans in combination with the special gas mandrel the semi vacuum hardening with subsequent gas quenching had become quite simple.

  • Applicable up to about 1200°C

The workpiece is positioned on the grate and the can is shifted over the conical stopper. You will wonder what you can do with it…
No loss of time when heating-up due to the very thin can.
If the canand the grate are large enough, several workpieces can be treated at the same time since the protective gas will flush around all parts. Large workpieces which do not achieve any maximum hardness due to their dimensions or alloys when cooled down by air can be hardened by accelerated gas cooling in the can
.
An even more rapid cooling down speed is being achieved when the gassing mandrel is positioned above a ventilator.
Non-burnable and safe forming gas (95/5) or nitrogen can be used as protective gas.
Due to the little volume of the can and therewith the correspondingly low gas consumption you can also use pure nitrogen (less than 10 ppm remaining oxygen) or inert gas, such as argon and helium.

Atmosphere boxes and boxes for hardening, annealing, decarbonisation, nitration hardening and boronising

Gasanschluss 3 GAS CONNECTION, FIRMLY INSTALLED, METHOD 3

  • The box remains firm in the furnace.
  • The gas supply is conducted through the rear wall of the furnace.
  • It is used as described above.
  • The delivery is performed with gas thread 3/8" for all furnaces.

HARDENING BOXES WITH SAND CUP AND MANIPULATION FORK UP TO ABOUT 1100 °C

The workpieces are placed together with the neutral annealing coal into the box, the sand cup is filled with sand or preferably with isolating material by which an almost gas-tight atmosphere is being generated.
The box is taken out of the furnace as soon as the end temperature is reached with the manipulation fork which is included in the delivery.
The manipulation fork also provides for the correct hold when taking off the lid and subsequently tilting the box.
The boxes are also appropriate for decarbonisation, nitration hardening and boronising.

Caution:
The mentioned dimensions are exclusive the sand cup. Please add 15 mm for each side and about 20 mm for the lid. Other dimensions upon request.

 Gasanschluß 1GAS CONNECTION METHOD 1

  • For oxidation-free annealing up to about 900 the hardening boxes are provided with a protective gas connection as well as with a gas supply and a gas removal.
  • The box is sealed-up as described above and introduced into the furnace with a fork. Then the pre-rinsing is performed with about 5-times the volume of the box. Then the gas supply can be reduced. Nitrogen or forming gasses (95/5) need to be used.
  • A little recess in the furnace door and in the furnace collar which need to be created by the customer, provide for easy adapting of the box to the furnace.
  • Delivery with gas thread 1/4" for Rohde furnaces up to ME 65/12, and from model ME 105/12 on with 3/8"

For furnace types with doors opening to the top (ME 105/12 and larger) the gas supply and removal is led through.

ATMOSPHERE BOXES WITH HINGED LID UP TO ABOUT 1100 °C

These boxes can stay in the furnace.
At the bottom, mainly in front of the hinged lid, some decarbonisation powder is spread. If heat enters into the box, the powder will react with the air in the box. This way protected gas is being produced and decarbonisation or oxidation is avoided.
By means of a draw hook (3012 or 3014 on page) the lid is opened, the workpiece can be removed with hardening tongs.

GAS CONNECTION METHOD 2

  • Also boxes with hinged lids can be delivered with gas connection.
  • Here also the maximum temperature for gas applications amounts to 900 °C.
  • The gas is inserted into the box from the rear and will exhaust through the lid.
  • The loading is performed with the fork which is included in the delivery (up to model N61).
  • Delivery complete with gas thread 3/8" for all furnaces. 


Accessories for decarbonisation, nitration and isolating

 AufkohlenDECARBONISATION(DIFFUSION OF CARBON)

  • At about  900 °C a smooth steel skin connects with the carbon to a layer of a thickness of about 0.2 - 2 mm.
  • The workpieces are positioned in a box together with decarbonisation powder, the lid is sealed with isolation material (see below).
  • The thickness of the decarbonised layer is depending on the holding time at 900 °C. As a rule of thumb it amounts to about 0.1 mm per hour holding time. With a holding time of about 6 - 8 hours you will achieve good average results.
  • Applicable in each furnace
The powder is for one-time use:
  • KRATOS U for unalloyed steel
  • KRATOS L for alloyed steel
The granulate material can be used several times:
  • KG 30 for unalloyed steel
  • KG 6 for alloyed steel 
 PulvernietrierenPOWDER NITRATION HARDENING (DIFFUSION OF NITROGEN)

  • At about 550 °C an extremely hard cover layer is forming (up to 1000 HV), the layer which is lying below (0.2 - 0.4 mm) hardened steel is being covered.
  • The workpieces are positioned together with the nitration powder into a heat-resistant box, the lid is sealed-up with isolation material.
  • The term of the holding time at 550 °C should amount to 10 hours or more.
  • The procedure can be performed in any furnace.
  • The thin cover layer represents a high resistance against  "corroding" and against friction wear, the fatigue resistance is considerably increased.

Applicable for all steels (also cast-iron), e.g.:
  • Hot working molds and injection die mold
  • Wearing parts and machine components 
 IsoliermittelISOLATION MATERIAL

  • A well kneadable mass for the air-tight closing of hardening boxes, based on a ceramic basis.
  • Appropriate for the covering of pieces of workpieces which need to be smooth after the decarbonisation.
  • Also for workpieces which shall only be partially hardened.
